Find your own part in the Movies
Now in its twenty ninth fabulous year, the Summer School in Filmmaking offers intensive teaching in all aspects of film production. Each day or session is taught by Australia's leading film industry practitioners in their area of expertise.
The course, open to aspiring filmmakers of all ages and backgrounds, is designed to cover the essential skills, basic knowledge and industry insight needed to make films, knowledge that would normally require years of experience to acquire, and will equip participants with the confidence, knowledge and skills to start a career in film or television and translate their own ideas and visions to the screen.
More exciting than a film festival, more real than film itself, you will begin to understand the enormous skill and energy that goes into that smoothly finished product on the screen.
The Filmmaking Summer School can be taken in full or participants can choose their own days and make up their own course/s.
Who are the filmmaking courses for?
The Script to Screen, Cinematography and Low Budget Filmmaking courses are open for people of all ages with little or no prior film making experience, practising film makers or actors wanting to change career direction as well as media teachers and students, production companies wishing to train staff, photographers wanting to move to the moving image, and anyone wanting to understand, and learn, all the steps to make great films.
Please note that some elements of previous Script to Screen course, and Documentary Filmmaking, will not be available in 2022. If you are interested in Documentary Filmmaking the Low Budget/No Budget hands-on course includes the basics of filmmaking (cameras, lighting, sound), how to interview people, storytelling, and exercises that are applicable. If you are interested in writing for the screen, the 3 day Writing, Acting and Directing days explore story and participants will write a script then act and direct it on David Swann's day on Friday Jan 7, 2022.
